I live on the VKC AO3 tag and have consumed all ~133 fics (at the time of this writing) multiple times, so please be reassured that I will enjoy literally anything for this series!

Characters & relationships

Hiraga/Roberto is my OTP! I also love thinking about Jin/Ada.

I have a preference for reading them as having a romantic (and possibly sexual) relationship as opposed to a platonic one - but anything goes depending on your jam! If you’re up for writing sex, I lean heavily towards bottom!Roberto. I also prefer for this to be their first relationship/love (with no prior romantic or voluntary sexual experience – though past dub!con or non!con is totally fine for RobeHira). If platonic, I love their utter devotion to each other and mutual trust. Though they often miscommunicate.... Sofuma arc is my favourite, followed by episode 12 (Sinfonia) and the third arc in Italy. For novel readers, Japan book (Apostles) and Germany book broke my heart in the best way.

In terms of other dynamics, I love any combination of these four. Jin & Roberto, Ada & Roberto, Hiraga and his parents, all four of them, etc. Ryouta wasn’t nominated, but feel free to include him too ❤️  I really like the Hiraga family, and I'd love to see their dynamics explored. Roberto's role in their interactions particularly interests me.

The concept of Jin/Roberto intrigues me…. is it a kidnapping and fuck-or-die scenario? Are aphrodisiacs or pheromones involved? I usually think about them as found family but I’d be interested to see where this goes, given Roberto’s (clear) crush on Hiraga (and Jin the ever-faithful husband).

I’d be happy to read about any other canon characters, from both the anime and novels, if you wish to include them.

Fluff vs Angst, Pain & Violence

I do enjoy a certain degree of violence (I max out around….the Roberto!crucifixion fic on AO3 which I loved). If offscreen, I can deal with canon-typical levels of (body)horror. On the other end, I also love domestic fluff for this family! Hurt/comfort is very suitable to this canon, as is any degree of angst. In other words, anything goes!

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles / Dai Gyakuten Saiban 「大逆転裁判」

Klint van Zieks, Barok van Zieks, Asougi Genshin

I will proceed to go quite literally insane; please don't be alarmed.
 

Characters (feel free to choose any combination of the three)

Barok I have a lot of thoughts about depressed!Barok and I am very into the angsty aesthetic. Barok is the personification of “looks like he could kill you but is actually a cinnamon role” (except he really could kill you). I especially like how he was portrayed during the credits (still loving Klint, still not smiling, but slowly rising to the surface of the waves). To me, he is an insatiable bro-con, Professor!Klint or not. I think of him as the cute, polite, little ‘darling of the family’ before losing Klint/Genshin, and an intensely depressed shell of himself afterwards. I often wonder about the implications of his wine obsession – is it a way to self-medicate from the pain? I’ve seen some interpretations of his wine as literal medicine, which I find cool too.

Klint I’m open to many interpretations of Klint. Fundamentally, I think he was an extremely pure-hearted, yet righteous soul (and was just as much of a bro-con as Barok!!). Canonically, he was warped out of a desire to write the wrongs of the aristocracy, but I also enjoy interpretations where Barok is a major factor in influencing his actions (through blackmail, threats, attacks, etc.). I love him for his canonical flaws, yet I’m also open to good or innocent Klint!AUs (such as ‘the whole Professor case was a scam to trap Stronghart’).

Genshin I tend to think of him as someone persistently attracted to men (maybe he had a thing for Mikotoba initially? He fell for both of the van Zieks brothers because of their character?). We know that Kazuma believes his mother died of grief, but Genshin’s will is laser-focused on Kazuma (as opposed to his entire family), so I kind of see him as someone who married (at 20!!) out of duty. This facet of him is interesting to explore given his righteous character. While not canonically gay, he is depicted as a loyal man who seeks truth and justice. Clearly, he is insanely devoted to the van Zieks brothers - he gave up everything for Klint (and Barok), though that love could be interpreted in many ways.

Pairings

Whether romantically or platonically, I love every combination of these three (GenKlint/GenBaro/KlintBaro/GenKlintBaro). Klint and Barok are the de-facto grouping, and Genshin joins them later on as a colleague, protector and confidant (and more?). 

Maybe Klint confides his brotherly worries in Genshin (wherein Genshin must constantly reassure Klint that Barok won’t suddenly grow to hate him for trivial things). Or there is some jealousy that arises due to Genshin growing very close to one of the brothers? Why does Barok admire Genshin so? How did Genshin become Klint’s partner?

Genshin/Klint/Barok

Are the three of them together, or does Klint step out in order to attempt an honest married life? Alternatively, Barok and Genshin pine over Klint together. Or, Genshin teaches Klint how to live, closeted, after marriage. Maybe Genshin is but a voyeur and guardian of the incestuous relationship of Britain’s biggest prosecutor.

Prompts

• A setup where some combination of the three raise Iris – alongside Holmes? Is Mikotoba still around? Is this an AU where the Professor case went differently so some characters survived, and the exchange is ongoing? Does Lady Baskerville still die in childbirth?

• Barok is attacked after the deaths of Klint & Genshin, and receives his facial scar. He dreams of a reality where Genshin and/or Klint were there to save him.

• Barok trains his body post!Professor case, and remembers the (sword) fighting techniques taught to him by Klint/Genshin.

• A ‘Lord van Zieks is attacked’ scenarios: one or both brothers were (nearly?) sodomized/grievously injured in the past, so Genshin takes care to escort them from now on. 
  • What really happened the night Genshin’s ring was stolen? (Potential for Canon deviation) Was it was more than just a ring theft (sexually or violently)? Are they only attacked on the streets or is someone kidnapped? This setup is very conducive to a fuck-or-die scenario

• Klint marries around the time the Professor murders take off, so Barok is left bereft of his brother both due to his marriage and work. Does he try to get Klint’s attention somehow? Or does he turn to Genshin? Will Genshin take advantage of the situation?

• Klint is revealed to be the Professor, and the price for his freedom is to become Genshin’s slave. (Or Barok’s). Though of course, they love him desperately and won’t hurt him the way he thinks he deserves.

• Depressed!Barok attempts suicide (does he succeed?) and sees Klint/Genshin again. Or, he specifically goes through with it in order to see them again. Does this happen right after the Professor case? During his 5 year absence from the courtroom (or could it be the reason for his absence)? Post-canon and the Klint reveal? Maybe Barok can’t forgive himself for prosecuting Genshin, sham trial or not.

• Genshin reads Klint’s will while imprisoned in his cell. Is he reflecting on the relationship he had with the brothers? 
  •  Genshin/Barok prompt: 
    • What does Genshin think of how Barok condemned him in court? What was he going through emotionally?
    • Perhaps Barok confronted Genshin in his cell after his arrest, pleading for the truth and believing in his innocence until…something? What made Barok come to hate Genshin and believe in his guilt?
    • Genshin non-cons/dub-cons Barok to convince him that Genshin is a criminal? (Genshin tries to be rough, Barok is scared, but deep down inside wants him anyway? He’ll have no one left if Genshin leaves him too.)

Mature premise prompts

• Punishment sex (could include spanking, bondage/bdsm, dom/sub style scene….)
  • Genshin/Klint after the Professor’s identity is revealed

• The botched execution was doubly botched: either Jigoku shot Drebber, or Genshin survived the bullet and was saved (by Mme Tusspells? Or someone else?) Genshin lives! AU

• The Professor case went differently and Klint actually swallowed Genshin’s ring

• I like the idea that the van Zieks/Baskerville marriage was arranged. So throw in some sordid aristocracy politics, or maybe the marriage to Lady Baskerville was another form of blackmail towards Klint? (ex. she was attacked/raped and Klint had to marry her to cover up the shame? I could see this working really well if the aggressor was a family member/relative) Is Stronghart involved in forcing the marriage to go on?

I think a lot about the contrast between the exchange trio pairings: whatever combo of Klint/Genshin/Barok vs Holmes/Mikotoba vs Stronghart/Jigoku.

I enjoy thinking about Holmes deducing Genshin and his partner(s), or Mikotoba/Holmes and van Zieks/Genshin knowing of and supporting each other’s relationships.

(I’m also into background one-sided Genshin -> Mikotoba, or non-romantic Stronghart/Klint in this setting)

If you want to include literally any other character in canon, go for it! I think Balmung, Iris and Kazuma would fit particularly well. Also Holmes, Mikotoba, Jigoku, Stronghart and the cast of 16-10 years ago (Gregson, Sithe, Maria, Watson/Wilson, Gregson, the prison guys, etc.)

+ Asougi Kazuma prompts

• Post-canon, Barok tells Asougi (Kazuma) about his father, Genshin. (Could be a BaroAsou setting). Is he admitting to his relationship with Kazuma’s father? Confessing the sins of incest or having multiple male lovers? Does he also try to convince Kazuma of Klint’s “goodness”?

• Kazuma takes up the role of protecting Barok like his father once did. Barok has flashbacks and isn’t able to differentiate between Genshin and Kazuma.
  • Barok thinks of Genshin while having sex with Kazuma? Kazuma knowingly fucks Barok in the place of his father, so Barok can have “one last time?” Or does it become an arrangement?

Misc. Preferences, Opt-ins and DNWs

I’m okay with either original or localized names (I tend to use Holmes, Klint spellings but Sholmes and Klimt work just as well. Characters like Stronghart/Vortex could go either way).

If you’re comfortable writing in the style, I really enjoyed the Victorian speech patterns and British-isms in the game.

 
If you're interested in writing sex, here are some things I like (I'm not picky!):
