I hope you find some of these prompts inspirational; but if not,
please feel free to go ahead and dive into the creation of your heart!
Notes on non-traditional mediums:
Visuals — When it comes to reading direction, I'm more than comfortable with
right-to-left layouts (especially for my Japanese canons), but left-to-right
works just as well, so please go with whatever makes you most at ease! I
don't have any strong preferences when it comes to black and white or colours
and palettes, nor mediums or tones. In terms of styles (and please don't feel
bound to this!), I enjoy anime/manga style, as well as chibis, and also like
more realistic portrayals. Additionally, I tend to prefer on-model characters
that ressemble the source material — as opposed to interpretations where they
have been dramatically altered (ex: race-bending skin tones, drastically
changing proportions such that a canonically slim character appears overweight,
etc.). But if that's not your thing, I'd be happy to see something that's in
your style!
Crafts — from embroidery to cross-stitch, or knitting to crochet, I'm more than
happy to receive any kind of chart or pattern! Last year, I was super into
small 30 x 27 -ish pixel art that is easily adaptable into a pattern for all
of the above. I like stylised versions of characters or other visuals and exact
renditions of canonical art equally ♡
When it comes to specifications:
- Your choice of weight and stitches (for knitting/crochet), and count for cross-stitching.
- Both aida/evenweave are OK!
- Embroidery floss: both Anchor and DMC colours work :)
Create what you envision fits the request or inspiration you have in mind!
So go wild with size, colour variety, complexity, etc. Feel free to go as
simple or as complex as you like! I just want to try what you come up with <3
Here are some examples of projects that come to mind (but you are by no means
limited to them):
- A pattern for an accessory or piece of an outfit from canon (could be doll/mini sized if that’s easier!)
- A scene from canon, converted into a pixel pattern
- A character’s insignia, or any memorable logo from canon
- A doll pattern of a character; feel free to turn them into an animal
(if they are originally human) or something if that floats your boat 😂
(depending on the canon, they might have their own animal designs already!)
- A memorable object from canon, turned into a pattern (whether that be 2D or 3D)
- Characters from a ship together <3
Other Notes:
- Mediums have been copied exactly as they appear in the tagset.
If I fail to address specific requests below, please go with your heart
and create whatever appeals to you!
- I also want to give you a head's up that due to chronic illness I'm still
learning to manage, I might take longer than usual to comment than I have in
the past (depending on what happens around reveals).
I totally understand if that uncertainty is discouraging, and please skip me
this time around if need be!!! No hard feelings!
